What is Valtrex?
An antiviral drug used in the management of herpes simplex and herpes zoster (shingles).
DIRECTIONS:
Tablet - Comes as tablet to take by mouth. Do not split, chew or crush them. The tablets should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water.
Take valtrex exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Use this medication as soon as possible after symptoms appear.
Continue to take valtrex even if you feel well. Do not stop taking valtrex without talking to your doctor.
STORAGE:
- Keep it in its tightly closed container.
- Keep it out of reach of children.
- Store the capsules and tablets at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).
- Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
WARNING:
Before taking Valtrex, Advice your Doctor and Pharmacist if you have these following
- If allergic to valtrex, acyclovir (Zovirax), valacyclovir or any other drugs.
- If you are taking prescription and nonprescription medications and vitamins.
- If you have or have ever had kidney or liver disease, problems with your immune system, human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV) or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
- If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
- If you become pregnant while taking valtrex, call your doctor.
